Transformers Metrobase

LOLO was commissioned to design the operational wardrobe for Transformers Metrobase at Universal Studios Beijing. This project required creating uniforms that would capture the futuristic and dynamic essence of the Transformers franchise while ensuring practicality and comfort for the staff. The challenge was to develop costumes that reflected the high-tech, action-packed world of Transformers while meeting the functional needs of a theme park environment.

The design process began with an in-depth analysis of the Transformers universe. LOLO aimed to create uniforms that would seamlessly blend into the technologically advanced and battle-ready atmosphere of Metrobase. The uniforms needed to evoke the sleek, mechanical aesthetics of the Transformers while incorporating elements that highlighted the characters and storyline. Our team designed futuristic jumpsuits and accessories featuring metallic finishes, bold insignias, and intricate detailing inspired by the Transformers’ design language.

Material selection was crucial for this project. The fabrics needed to be durable, breathable, and suitable for a range of activities, from guiding guests to performing maintenance tasks. LOLO chose high-performance materials that offered flexibility and comfort, ensuring staff could move freely and stay cool in Beijing’s varying climate. The fabrics were also selected for their ability to maintain their appearance and integrity despite frequent use and rigorous cleaning.

Attention to detail was paramount in the creation of these costumes. Each uniform was meticulously crafted to include elements that would enhance the immersive experience for guests, such as integrated LED lights, mechanical patterns, and functional utility pockets. LOLO collaborated closely with Universal Studios’ art directors and operational teams to ensure the designs were both visually striking and practically functional. Regular fittings and feedback sessions were conducted to refine the costumes, ensuring they met the high standards expected of the Transformers brand.
