The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter

The world of Harry Potter was brought to Universal Studios in Japan and Creative Director Laurent Gunici was once again brought in to design the outfits to bring his magic touch of immersive design experience to this hugely popular and important land. Merging the traditional British styles of tarten and quilting, the worn look brought authenticity to the uniforms and engaged the team members with the guests to allow for a full immersive experience that is so important to the visitors of the parks. New designs for the environmental differences between Japan and the US were required and the overall style had to complement and stay true to the feel of the WIzarding World.

The design process began with an in-depth exploration of the Harry Potter series’ visual and thematic elements. LOLO aimed to create costumes that would seamlessly integrate into the iconic settings of the Wizarding World, such as Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest. The uniforms needed to evoke the charm and mystery of J.K. Rowling’s world, incorporating traditional British styles and magical details. Our team designed robes, waistcoats, and capes featuring intricate details such as house crests, authentic fabrics, and whimsical accessories.

Material selection was a critical aspect of this project. The uniforms had to be crafted from fabrics that were both visually authentic and practical for the varying weather conditions in Japan. LOLO chose materials that provided comfort and durability, ensuring they were suitable for both hot summers and cold winters. The fabrics were also selected for their ability to withstand frequent use and cleaning, maintaining their appearance over time. Special attention was given to creating layers and accessories that could be adjusted for seasonal changes.

Attention to detail was essential in bringing these costumes to life.
